Photo Day

20150730-picture-day
Remember the practice of the year project I’m working on? Well, part of the application requires that various photos are submitted. The photographer that has done our hospital’s photos in the past was in town and, as a courtesy, the hospital allowed staff who was interested to get personal photos taken at the park where we set-up a mock community event for photos for the application. I decided our personal photos would be Star Wars themed and since I could not handle taking three dogs to this shoot where I would also be working, I only brought Rowan.

Vegas

20150220-vegas1
This year’s Vegas trip was great. We stayed at the Aria which is beautiful place. I gambled, had fun, even worked out a few times, and left with the money I came with… Vegas success. I didn’t take very many pictures, sometimes I can be so bad about that. I managed to get the classy hotel bathroom selfie picture taken and a few other pictures while we were waiting to zipline down Fremont St. The longer zipline, “the zoomline” was fun, not incredibly fast, kind of short as far as ziplines go in general, but FUN.

Pooch Parade

20140820-pooch-parade1
I am officially in love with going to massive dog walks and events. This past weekend I was at a “Pooch Parade” hosted by a local canine adoption and rescue group. A couple of co-workers and I attended the event to represent our hospital and have a great time. I took Loki with me because he is generally extremely well-behaved at events like these and he’s just a big goof who loves to greet other dogs. I didn’t take nearly as many photos as I should have but here are some of the best ones.

Gar

garrick-about
Garrick is the kindest person I’ve ever met, we’ve been together for over 10 years. There are a lot of good arguments that deny the existence of altruism but nothing can deny my personal experience or change my belief in Garrick’s altruism. Also, he is crazy. For example, the first time I met him he was in the back seat of my friend’s boyfriend’s car banging his head into the car window trying to get me to laugh. Now that I think of it, he still does silly things like that to try to get me to laugh, but it usually never works. It works great on kids though.

Gar loves all creatures, he’ll treat an insect or a wild reptile like he would his own pet. He once spent an hour on our patio focused on a seemingly disabled bee he named “Mitch”, contemplating this bee’s situation and whether it was suffering. I don’t know why but birds love him, just trust me on that one. Finally, Gar is a welder and handy man extraordinaire. He has fixed everything I’ve ever asked him to fix. He is exactly the type of guy I want by my side during a natural disaster or zombie apocalypse.

Valentine’s Day Surprises

20140214-valentines-surprise
Garrick and I have been together over ten years and every Valentine’s Day he gets me awesome flowers and I get him some kind of gift. I am very satisfied with this routine, I love flowers for their aesthetic value. As long as I don’t get red roses with baby’s breath on Valentine’s Day, I am more than content with just getting flowers. I have nothing against red roses, I think they are a great gift sometimes, but I find them too cliche on Valentine’s Day.

A few weeks ago I found white topaz and rose gold earrings on Groupon and decided they would be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for me, so I bought them with Gar’s money and shipped them to him at his work so he could give them to me today. This plan was wicked awesome. I wanted jewelry and I would get jewelry without having to hint or nag. Also, I knew for sure I would like the jewelry and, most important, they were affordable.

However, something happened that I didn’t expect. I got my earrings and I’m super happy with them like I knew I would be, but I also got a lot of other stuff. Yay! Don’t get me wrong, I would have been utterly and completely happy with just my earrings but awesome flowers and a handful of other jewelry is really cool. Besides my earrings, Gar got me a beautiful bouquet of pink roses and tulips, a glass heart and gold flake necklace, hand-painted pendants and charms of some of my favorite books, and an extra white gold chain for the pendants. Now I’m wishing I had done more for him than frame some of his rare Deadpool posters (Deadpool is a super awesome Marvel comic book character if you didn’t know). But we are both very happy today.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
