The results are in! Essentially, one of Woody’s parents is a Toy Poodle/Pekingese mix and his other parent is a Klee Kai mix. If you haven’t seen a Klee Kai before, they look like mini Huskies… nothing like Woody. Click here to see Woody’s picture. The laboratory also found traces of English Bulldog, West Highland Terrier, Redbone Coonhound, and Brussels Griffon in Woody’s DNA sample. However, these traces did not cross the threshold to be able to be listed in his ancestry chart. In other words, those breeds could have contributed to his ancestry but strictly speaking Woody is a Toy Poodle/Pekingese/Klee Kai mix. The one thing I’ve learned about these DNA breed tests is to never be surprised by them. Sometimes, the results come back and the breeds are exactly or mostly what you would think based on the pet’s appearance. Other times, the results are way out there. A friend of mine tested her Chihuahua mix. She looks like a Chihuahua with Miniature Pinscher coloring and has a slightly elongated body like a Doxin. Her test results showed that she is a Chihuahua/Vizsla/Cocker Spaniel mix. You just never know sometimes.
